Many times, we witness a split in the road leading to the same destination, and the choice often depends on which path to take, especially in the different seasons of the year. In Israel’s scorching summer, it’s better to take the path along the stream, where there’s much more shade and water sources. In contrast, during winter, the streams pose a risk of floods, and it’s generally more pleasant to walk along the mountain ridge trail. These paths meet at the bottom of the slope, where you can find the Roman milestones. In Emmaus, even today, you can find many remains from the Second Temple period, including the village’s water reservoir, which has been restored as a tourist attraction.
